Clinical Developmental Neuropsychologist Dr. Ronald S. Federici earned dual doctorates from the University of Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 1985. In 1986, he founded his current practice, Neuropsychological and Family Therapy Associates, P.C. in McLean, Virginia. In addition to diagnosing and treating patients, Dr. Federici is also the clinic’s Director and Supervisor, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of internationally adopted children suffering from severe cases of trauma, violent and unmanageable behavior, attachment disorders, fetal alcohol syndrome, deprivation, and school and learning problems. His over 22 years in the field have made Dr. Federici so adept an expert that he is now considered the top Clinical Developmental Neuropsychologist in the United States. Dr. Ronald Federici is also internationally recognized, having published research in journals around the world. Dr. Federici has also appeared on BBC News and has been honored by the Romanian Department of State for his humanitarian work in Romania and his championing of the cause of Western European adoptees. Domestically, Dr. Ronald Federici’s work has appeared in over 30 of the nation’s top psychology journals and has even been featured in such popular news publications as Time Magazine, the New York Post, and the Washington Post. Dr. Federici has also been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN, NBC, ABC, and HBO. Furthermore, Dr. Ronald Federici has been a featured keynote speaker and lecturer at over 100 training sessions and presentations. He has also taught at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and the Uniformed School of Military Medicine. Dr. Ronald Federici is licensed as both a school psychologist and a clinical psychologist in the State of Virginia and holds fellowships and diplomates on eight neuropsychology boards. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Ronald Federici is the Staff Neuropsychologist at both Mt. Vernon and Dominion Psychiatric Hospitals in Virginia. Dr. Federici is also the author of the 1998 book Help for the Hopeless Child: A Guide for Families (with Special Discussion for Assessment and Treatment of the Post-Institutionalized Child), which is now in its second edition, and Escape from Despair: Through the Eyes of the Child, which will be released in the coming months.
